The Chakra System

There is no need to worry about this too much at all, simply know that by eating well, exercising, thinking positively and generally taking care of ourselves, our chakras should spin and work effectively, thus feeding our organs and body with the energy it needs. Often though our chakras can become sluggish, and the corresponding area of the body can suffer. Here is an overview of the chakras and some problems that can be associated with them if they are not cleansed and balanced.

The base or root chakra is located at the base of the spine and vibrates at the frequency seen as red. An ill functioning base chakra could lead to feelings of general insecurity in the world, as well as a lack of vitality and zest for life.

The next chakra is the sacral chakra, which is located just below the navel and spins at the colour of orange. An ill functioning sacral chakra can lead to lack of sex drive and fertility problem. Also, because of its location and association with the bladder and the kidneys it can lead to problems within them.

Moving up now, above the navel and below the ribcage is the solar plexus chakra. This spins at the colour yellow and is associated with intellect, will power and direction in life. We hold many negative emotions in our solar plexus, such as anger and fear, and when you consider the location of this chakra you may begin to understand why when you are upset or nervous you can suffer with a bad stomach as your fear becomes trapped in the chakra.

These lower chakras then are associated with the physical plane and the lower- self aspects of the aura.

Next is the heart chakra, which is located at the centre of the chest in line with the heart, and this chakra vibrates to the colour of green. An open heart can bring joy, happiness and powers of healing. It is important to forgive others and ourselves as we can hold onto fear of love and thereby inadvertently close our selves and hearts down to the prospect of love and happiness. As previously mentioned, the heart chakra is associated with the astral plane, the bridge between heaven and earth, so opening up our hearts and releasing unforgiveness is a step towards bringing heaven down to meet your earthly life.

Now then onto the three higher chakras which are associated with the spiritual plane and our higher selves.

The throat chakra is located at the Adams apple and is blue. Here is our centre of communication, and a closed or blocked throat chakra will lead to throat problems and an inability to express ourselves verbally, (either consciously or unconsciously). Here is also the centre of clairaudience, the centre through which spirit communicates with us on an audible level. The throat chakra is another healing centre, and it is important to remember that it only takes a few words to allow a healing to begin.

Next then is the third eye chakra, located at the centre of the forehead in line with the eyebrows. The third eye chakra is indigo in colour and is most notably the centre of clairvoyance. It is interesting that the children, known as indigo children, who are now living freely and commonly amongst us are highly sensitive, clairvoyant and psychic and are so-called because of their very prominent indigo auras. Those who work with guided meditation and visualisation can also consider this to be a healing centre as the power of the mind and visualisation can open you up to miracles. Blocked third eye chakras could lead to eye problems, sinusitis and insomnia, as this chakra is also connected to the pituitary gland, which is the master gland and regulates our body clocks.

The final chakra then, is called the crown chakra, because it is located at the crown of the head. The colour of this chakra is violet, and this is the centre of claircognisence (clear knowing), as it is the centre that connects us with the universal wisdom and the source of all that is. Those that suffer with migraines or headaches may benefit from treatment of the third eye and crown chakras as these may be blocked.
